‘Halloween pub Quiz for Eco Ghouls’ on October 30th, 2024

Imagine, we got to host a pub quiz in an actual pub! The father of Wisse, one of Utrecht’s FFNA coordinators, kindly reserved space for us to host a ‘Halloween pub quiz for Eco Ghouls’ in his classic brown bar in Utrecht, called ‘De Vingerhoed’. It was here on October 30th that we gathered 25 ‘eco ghouls’, consisting of a nice mix of Future for Nature Academy members and friends. We were lucky enough to have a friend, Marius, who offered to host the pub quiz. He showed up in a dashing suit and led us through the rounds in a mysterious yet charming manner. The topics of the questions ranged from general biological knowledge and animal movies to matching pictures and sounds with animal species. The pub quiz ambiance was competitive, in a friendly way, resulting in intense concentration sidetracked only by the spontaneous sound effects inserted by the pub quiz assistant 😉. At the conclusion of the pub quiz, Ignas received a prize for the best costume - he was decked out as a ‘mad scientist’ in a lab coat adorned with bugs and rats. In addition, the winners of the pub quiz each received a book related to ecology or the environment. All in all, the pub quiz was a success, leaving us with more knowledge about poisonous spiders, deadly mushrooms and the lingering echo of horrifying giraffe sounds in our dreams that night…
