Entering Winter Pubquiz - on November 20th, 2024

About this “Entering Winter Pub-Quiz” event, we got showered with similar compliments from everyone “It was fun!”. Thanks to all the participants and dedicated members/ organizers, the Pub-Quiz was a great success with more than 50 participants in the big room of Lumen 1 & 2, Wageningen.
The evening kicked-off with the Pot-luck at 17:30pm. Around 11 of us made some dishes and shared our dinner. We started off relaxed, until the excitement and anticipation filled the room when all the challengers arrived on time.
Although we don’t want to spoil the set-up of the Pub-Quiz 😉, the content really followed the “Entering Winter” theme. We explored winter preparations (migration, caching food, etc.) to during winter (hibernation, lifestyles/ behaviors, general knowledge, etc.) of different species; ranging from animals (land & marine) to insects and plants, touching different ecosystems. Everyone was from different background (study/ major-wise), it was amazing to see everyone enjoying the same content. Even with all those cool topics, the high-light was still the last round: “the Wildcard”. We were amazed to see how everyone was so creative with their ideas for our on-the-spot challenge, “building shelters according to random biomes” 😂, they were all builders. “The Wetland Shelter – Frogs only, no Toads” built by Team “Speshal Snowflakes” won the third round with the highest vote. However, the “Team NAAM” was the champion of the evening, winning the final points from the runner-up team “Botswana boys”. It was so close, very close. All in all, we were so happy to see that all the participants enjoyed the evening as much as we did. It was really heart-warming. We hope to hold more exciting events just as much in the future. About Event
Winter is coming! Although we often associate these dark days with barren trees and empty landscapes, this time of the year is actually when life reveals its greatest tricks in the fight for survival against the cold. Join us for the great FFN Academy Winter Pubquiz, and learn everything about these amazing survivors! To also keep you warm and energized for this coming winter, we will have a cozy potluck and fun active games. Join us for this eventful evening and maybe you will win an amazing price with your team!

17:30 - 18:45: Potluck Dinner (Vegan)
19:00 - 21:00: Active Pub-quizzes (3 rounds, with breaks)
21:00 - 21:30: Drinks and Winners announcement
There are 2 parts in this event, the Potluck and the Pub-quizzes. You can join either one or both. Individual sign-ups will be grouped with other awesome players so fret not. You can also join as a team/group to challenge the prize (minimum of 3ppl or maximum of 5 ppl per group required).
If you are joining for Potluck, please make sure to bring your own cup, plate/bowl, and cutlery. And since it is a Potluck, you are welcome to bring food, dessert or drinks to share!
