Brazilian Biomes: Challenges and Solutions On November 13, Future for Nature Academy Utrecht, in collaboration with VTB (Netherlands), organized the event Brazilian Biomes: Challenges and Solutions, at Utrecht University. The goal was to explore the diversity of Brazilian biomes, the challenges they face, and practical solutions for its conservation and restoration. Approximately 40-50 participants joined, both in person and online. The program featured presentations by four speakers. Amanda Fernandes (Pacto Mata Atlântica) spoke about reforestation, governance and alliances within stakeholders in the Atlantic Forest. Juliana Lins (Radboud University) shared insights on the Amazon and Indigenous ontologies and its importance for addressing challenges from different perspectives . Marcela Paranhos (Sail Investments) discussed climate finance in Brazil, and Marco Borges (ICMBio) addressed the importance of collaborative techniques for fire management in the Cerrado. While there was no time for a full roundtable discussion, participants engaged in a Q&A session and informal conversations with the speakers. Feedback showed that attendees appreciated the range of topics, felt inspired, and were eager to learn more about innovative conservation and restoration solutions. The event highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge-sharing, leaving participants motivated to contribute to the sustainable management and preservation of Brazil's biomes.
