Lecture Ranger Campus Foundation

February 18, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Rangers patrol a large part of the world’s protected areas. They risk their lives, every day to protect wild animals, plants and their habitat from wildlife crime. Unfortunately rangers face multiple challenges; they are often underpaid, undervalued, don’t have suitable (if at all) equipment and are not adequately trained which can mean the difference between life and death, and between arresting a poacher or letting him go.
The Ranger Campus Foundation, founded by Boris Vos and Dominique Noome, aims to protect wildlife by strengthening law enforcement in protected areas. Ranger Campus Foundation is a registered charity under the laws of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and collaborates with a global network of partners and subject matter experts. Their vision is to development a practical and relevant training system and standard that supports a worldwide network of well-led, well-trained and motivated protected area law enforcement professionals. They do this by setting up a professional curriculum and encouraging global expert-knowledge-sharing via Ranger Academy; an e-learning platform specially developed for rangers, accessible by a mobile app. This platform can improve ranger training and build ranger capacity around the world to do their job safely and effectively, ensuring wildlife protection and good relations with the communities around their protected area. Besides, they founded the LEAD Ranger program in collaboration with the International Anti Poaching Foundation (IAPF) and the Thin Green Line Foundation. This program delivers industry best-practice training over a multi-year period to rangers and instructors, who are the future leaders of conservation.
In February 2019 Boris and Dominique will give a lecture for FFN Academy to tell us all about their valuable work with rangers.
Come and listen!
