We are looking for an eagermarketing intern to help Sibu buildand developitsmarketing department.This person needs to provide creative ideas to help achieve fundraising, social media, and general outreachgoals. This positionwill assist indeveloping and implementing marketing strategiesunder the guidance of an experiencedmarketer.

Duration of Service

6-month minimum, with the option to extend based on evaluation. Position has an immediate opening.

About Sibu Wildlife Sanctuary

SibuWildlife Sanctuary’s mission is to provide a permanent, spacious sanctuary and ongoing care for wildlife that, due to psychological or physical injury, it is not possible to release back into the wild.We also rehabilitate wildlife that has been orphaned or abandoned andprepare them for an eventual release back into the wild.Physical injury to Costa Rica’s wildlife is most often caused by human encroachment. Deforestation, development, and fragmentation of their natural habitat has led to frequent electrocutions on power lines, dog attacks and injury or death due to fast moving motor vehicles.

This positionwill assist indeveloping and implementing marketing strategiesunder the guidance of an experiencedmarketer. As theMarketing Intern, you will collaborate with your superiorsonvariousmarketing campaignssuch as: social media, crowdfunding, graphic design, onsite promotions and more. We are looking forinsightful contributions thatwill help developand maintain our marketing goals.In return, thisinternship will help you improve yourmarketing skills and provide you with knowledge of various marketingstrategiesacross multiple platforms.

Activities & Responsibilities

You will work alongside the administrative staff at Sibu Wildlife Sanctuary and as well be given mentorship from a professional freelance marketer.

Activities:
•Collecting data to build professional and strategic marketing campaigns
•Performing analytical analysis on social media and the website platform
•Research and campaign performance on competitors
•Supporting administration with any additional daily tasks

Responsibilities:
•Write social media, mail-to-mail, and the websiteupdates
•Support marketing campaign planning and execution
•Help distribute graphic design and other marketing materials across platforms
•Be the center’s primary photographer and videographer for new media content
•Utilize graphic design tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, and other tools
•Help organize and execute marketing events such as concerts, community outreach, educational events, and tours
•Utilize an editorial calendar to publish content on social media daily to engage our followers and build our audience
•Assist in creating video, photo, and written content for the center to promote various programs
•Manage website SEO

Skills & Qualifications

All applicants are required to have a degree in marketing/communications or have similar experience working in the field. Applicant must complete required vaccinations to enter Costa Rica as well as a tetanus shot, and must hold health insurance that covers working with animals. Basic Requirements: 
•Must be 18 years or older
•Basic Spanish ispreferred
•The ability to follow instructions and attention to detail
•Enthusiasm and a positive attitude in the workplace
•Experience working with or around animals is preferred Internship Requirements
•Strong desire to learn and professional drive
•Solid understanding of different marketing platforms and strategies
•Photography background
•Experience video making and editing
•A professional and reliable camera with video recording capabilities
•Experience in software like Adobe Products
•Excellent verbal and written skills
•Knowledge of MS Office
•Familiarity with working on Gmail, Google Analytics, WordPress, SquareSpace,andMailchimp
•Passion for storytelling and the marketing industry
•Associates of BS degree or working towards marketing, business or a related field

 
 
Schedule

Local& International Applicants:The Marketing Intern works 5-days a week with two days off perweek. Days off are not necessarily consecutive, or on the weekend. Workdays begin at 7:00am and end at 4:00pm, with a 1 hour lunch break. Daily schedule needs to be flexible depending on the day’s workload.

Benefits, Hours & Costs
Internships are a mostly voluntary self-funded position. You will be responsible for all travel expenses and immigration fees. HOUSING:Provided by the center. The casita is located in the sanctuary groundsand is shared with the volunteers who work at the sanctuary. The Marketing Intern will have a double occupancy bedroom with private bathroom, and will need to be open to sharing the room with a volunteer ifthe other volunteer rooms are fully booked, however we will try to prioritize the Marketing Intern’s privacy. There is a shared living room/kitchen area whichincludes astove, oven, all cooking utensils,a fridge/freezer,a washing machine,and a dryer.The sanctuary is located 15-25 minutes from two beautiful beaches; Playa Pelada and Playa Guiones.MEALS: We provide rice and beans for lunch and dinner. If youwant anything else to eat, you are more than welcome to purchase your additional groceries and cook your own meals.There are 3grocerystores nearby where you can purchase groceries and additional snacks. There is a greenhouse next to the casita growing a variety of salad leaves and some vegetables for making fresh salads.OTHER:All other costs will be paid by the intern. This includes travel expenses, medical insurance, VISA expenses, entertainment and so forth
