Ecology and Conservation – session description
Ecology, in the definition of ‘the study of organisms and their interaction with the environment’, has never been more relevant than in this time of rapid global changes. In all corners of the Earth, biodiversity is under severe threat, as many studies show. Conservation-minded scientists call for action, but the response from society at large is weak. In this session we aim to (1) highlight examples of ecological research that have an impact on the conservation of a species, habitat or ecosystem, and (2) explore avenues of increasing the impact of ecological research to halt biodiversity declines. We specifically allow junior researchers to present their work and encourage discussion among the audience on how to improve the impact of research on conservation.
